President Harding visited Seattle on a tour that included Alaska, Vancouver, British Columbia, and Seattle. The plan had been to include a speech at Portland, Oregon and San Francisco. While in Seattle, after giving a speech at the University of Washington Stadium, the President continued south, canceling his speech in Portland. After arriving in San Francisco, the President's health failed and he died on August 2nd, 1923, less than a week after his last public speaking engagement in Seattle. Photographer: Frank H.
