Celluloid Seattle
Seattle Theatres: Then and Now
As part of the Celluloid Seattle exhibit, photographer Jean Sherrard went around the city to find the locations of historic theatres in Seattle and photograph what was there now. Some of the theatres are still well known and attended like the Guild 45th but many more have been put to other uses over the years. This online exhibit contains 21 paried images of theatres in their heyday with the location of the building as it appears today. We've also mapped the location of each.

Seattle Theatres: Then and Now is also included in the museum exhibit in Celluloid Seattle. Come take a look next time you're down at MOHAI!
Punctum / Poetry
Throughout the 2011-2012 school year, MOHAI and Arts Corps collaborated to bring teaching artist Roberto Ascalon into classrooms in Seattle’s Cleveland and West Seattle High Schools, working with students to bring MOHAI’s photographic archives to life through the expressive power of spoken word and poetry. During each 10-week residency, students were engaged in an introduction to the basics and history of photography, writing-while-looking exercises, collecting personal histories, in-depth writing and editing of final pieces.
