Exploration & Innovation Packs

Expanding on the popular Exploration Pack program, MOHAI now offers two different family gallery backpack themes to choose from! Each backpack is filled with activities, puzzles, creative play props, books, and more to help you and your child discover the museum together. MOHAI's original Exploration Packs are best suited to kids ages 3-7, inviting your child to become an explorer and helping them develop observation and inquiry skills while engaging with the museum in a hands-on way.

MOHAI's new Innovation Packs are ideal for kids ages 7-10 and encourage your young museum visitor to look at history with an innovator's eye, with a focus on creative thinking and new ideas. Both packs are always free to borrow at the front desk on a first-come, first-served basis.

The miniMOHAI program is now available to book for preschool classes or parent groups! Designed to give early learners a fun, hands-on experience at the museum, this is a great add-on activity to group visits. During miniMOHAI, kids freely explore up to six different interactive pop-up activity stations set up around the building; these activities are self-guided so they can be done at each child's own pace, and share a common learning theme that can be extended to activities at home or in your classroom.

Groups choose one of four themes ("Building the City", "Farm to Food", "Going West", or "Transportation Innovations"), and three of six stations (storytime, dramatic play, math and patterns, crafts, fine motor, or large motor). Larger groups may book all six stations upon request.

Visit the Museum Field Trips page for more information or to make a reservation.

  • Who: Ages 3-5, available to groups of 10 or more children
  • When: Available to book Monday-Friday, 10 am - 5 pm
